Erykk is
the product of some of the best “old-world” Polish breeding available, as
his pedigree is a rare mix of Witraz, Trypolis, Comet, Negatiw and Amurath
Sahib blood. Erykk’s Sire Balagan and dam *Era were “freak” Park horses,
giving Erykk a type of motion seldom seen in the modern Polish Arabian. Erykk
descends from the famed “E” line in Poland, revered for producing type and
extreme motion. His pedigree and athletic ability give him tremendous breeding
potential.
Erykk was bred by Heidi and Dale Sause of Maplewood Farms in Oregon, and
foaled in 1998. With Limited exposure, Erykk’s talent qualified him for
Nationals in English Pleasure, Driving, Informal Combination, and Park
divisions in the expert hands of Guy Benefield. Maplewood has just opened his
book this year to outside mares. To date, they are achieving a 100%
transported semen conception rate on the first cycle.

Thanks Denise for your kind comments. Not many people have seen both the Sire
and Dam in person. What you say is true - Erykk is exactly what his breeding
dictates and there's quite a story behind his life.
I'm looking for the photo of red paint on *Era's hooves when I bought her. She
was part of a herd slated for slaughter! Can anyone help my memory who alerted
me to this? It was a man and a woman, they found a group of Arabians who had
been abandoned on a quarter horse farm. The owner had quit paying the board.
It's embarrassing that I can't remember, getting too old I guess.
*Era was in such horrible condition I ultimately bought her in
"thirds"... The first payment was made to get her off that farm and
away from danger. The second third was due, IF and when she began cycling (she
was so thin that she had shut down reproductive cycles), the final payment was
to be made, if she conceived.
We took her to Don DeLongpre's for recovery and breeding. After three
unsuccessful attempts to be covered by Barbary (how cool would that have
been???) we sent her to Connie Murphy's in Red Bluff and bred her to Gotcha. (Negatraz
x Galia) She had a beautiful colt... all colts for me out of her - three.
Anyway,
someone will recognize this story and I would appreciate it if they freshen up
my memory. I owe a big thank you to the folks who pushed me into saving this
mare. More photos to come as soon as I find them.

For years, Patty Ross has honed her knowledge of the
Arabian breed, mostly unselfishly consulting for others to suggest breedings and
creating dream horses for clients. Not a nook or cranny of America was
undiscovered or overlooked by Patty when she was seeking perfect crosses.
Fortunately, I was on Patty's email list when she sent out photos of the mares
she collected to finally breed for herself.
She let us sneak in between her breeding plans...
There are only a few mares in America we'd consider leasing. Cerrah and Etherea
have the 'look' and the pedigrees to cross on Erykk. Then there's Patty. We
believe in her, and her expertise. Right place, right time, right mares, right
person. Each mare reminds us of former mares we've owned, Cerrah (*Era) and
Etherea (Bint Fayzarda). Of course we're hoping for new blood to replace these
beloved mares. We're the luckiest people in the world that she decided to let us
share those mares AND we have her at the helm!! Every nuance of these breedings
supervised and conducted personally by Patty!
Patty, thank you more than you can know. We'll keep our fingers crossed that
last weekend's double shipment is a conception success in Colorado high country!
